I give credit to my father (an English teacher with red pen always in hand and a passion for diagramming sentences) for sparking my affinity for words as a teen - an interest that began to pay off in 1997, when I was hired at Mircrosoft as a proofreader and quickly moved up the editorial ladder to conceptualize and write travel content for a CD-ROM project. That position was the first of many in my 16-year career in the online/print media industry.
I am a Southern California transplant (by way of Denver and Seattle), mom to two, and passionate about historic homes and preservation. We've restored two Craftsman bungalows and now live in a fabulous 1933 Spanish Revival "casita" that features amazing original details and an over-the-top Art Deco tile bathroom. (Read about it here: California Casita and A Bright Art Deco Bathroom)
When I'm not writing, I garden, read newspapers/blogs, get crafty with artsy mediums, scope out vintage finds at thrift stores and flea markets, and spend an inordinate amount of time fussing over my three cats.
